Less gain in fw15 compared to fw14???

Fw15.2 keeps these amps nice n tight in the bottom end while still getting into chaos territory with gain (IF that's where you want to be). If you're needing more gain adjust the input trim and then "gain" it up to taste. I think this Firmware has been the most impressive change since owning the...

Output 1 to FRFR... output 2 to mixer/board ??

**UPDATE** So I've switched around my main settings and I'm completely blown away with how good my tone is! I have OUT1 going straight to the PA with the FAS 6505 and my Tonematch set up as my lead/metal channel. Sounds absolutely awesome! I also out the FX loop in before the Tonematch block...

What changed in the EvH 5153 in FW14

I hear ya man! After I did the "update all presets" for fw14 I found that the FAS Modern II was sounding a bit different. I always plug my Matrix gt800fx back up whenever a new firmware is released as to not colour the tone. I tried out a bunch of the new high gain amps and they all sounded...

Anybody running Matrix -> Mesa 4x12?

A tube power amp will solve your issues. It has more of the classic "amp in room/tube punch and cut" that you're looking for. Although with fw14, the 5153 Red channel tweaked out cuts through big time. Try using some amps that you normally don't and see what you can dial in.

AxeFXII and 5150II Power amp = Win!

I'm not using the 4 cable method. I just plugged it into the FX return of my 5150 II as per the manual. Basically the Axe now works as the 5150 II's pre-amp section. All of my patches work just as they did with the Matrix gt800fx. Basically no changes had to be done other than turning off Power...
