Same old SS vs Valve amp debate.....

I speak from personal experience, and a slight lack of patience in spending forever trying to make a Matrix work, but I could never get a Matrix Amp to sound - or crucially FEEL -anywhere near as good as an LXii.

What do people mean when they say modelers "lack the amp feel"?

My opinion as a long time tube amp player, and for the last 12 years a Fractal user, is that for recording NOTHING currently beats the AXE FX iii. As far as playing "live" is concerned it's not quite the same but its close. Increasingly close with each big update in firmware. I'm a big Bogner...

Axe Ecstasy vs Real 20th Anniversary?

I agree. There's something about that chewiness that has eluded me so far with the Axe FX 3 Bogner Ecstasy model. It gets close, respectively so, and it may also be just me and how I dial it in, but the real amp sounds different. Or at least is easier to dial in to the expected sound/feel...

Great power amp options for axe fx3?

I have had an Lxii quite a while now. It is by far the best power amp I have used with the Axe FX. I've had Matrix power amps and used powered Friedman Cabs and they never quite cut it for me.

Fryette and Marix Power Amps Coloring

I have an Lxii with my AXE FX 3 and have used it for years. The depth definitely adds a lot although personally I don't use it. For what it's worth I will literally only use neutral Fryette power amps with my AXE FX 3. For the quality of build, feel, and sheer volume I think they're unbeatable.

The Elusive "Tube-ry Feel" of Axe-Fx III

This "real tube" vs Axe FX argument goes on and on... :) FWIW I spend as much time tracking at home as playing live these days. When I am tracking the AXE FX 3 is unbeatable. It does everything required and so effortlessly. Live? I really tried the FRFR-only solution but was always left...

Anyone use a Bogner Cube or Orange PPC?

I use a Bogner cube. Its mighty. Honestly I didn't like the V30 and changed it for a Scumback H75 which is altogether much better. Outstanding.

Axe Fx iii with power amp and real cabinet

The LXii has a loud fan. For a bedroom it could be annoying at low volume but at a rehearsal you’d not notice it. I echo what others say in that you will notice the feel and thump associated with a good old valve head. The models translate very well.

Axe Fx iii with power amp and real cabinet

For recording I use the AFX3 direct but when rehearsing or playing live I have my AFX3 going through a Fryette Lxii powering a traditional cab. In my opinion it's pretty close.

Axe Fx III vs. vintage 80s Rack

This was my last rack setup before I moved onto the Ultra and very quickly after that the AXE FX 2. All of the weight was a right pain. I'm glad to have reduced it to something more manageable for live use. At home and for recording nothing touches the AXE FX 3 direct in my opinion. These...
