Is my front input broken or am I a dolt?

I bet it's a loose connection. Just do as Fro said, pop the unit open and reconnect the input plug to the mainboard. it seems that occasionally it happens to some of the units.

tgunn, yes I checked that out: seeing a whole 9V adapter inside made me smile :D I somehow can't see myself doing that in piece worth so much money - I would be too scared to burn or break something... Anyways, There just should be a built-in thing inside Axe to avoid all those external powering...

As 'rigged' I mean easy connection AC Adapter -> Axe-Fx -> 7 pin midi -> MFC 101 (look at the attached image). Yeah, guys, I haven't thought about battery consumption at all. You're right! It seems reasonable to stick with AC Adapter this way or another. Too bad there is no other easy way...

help ! Ultra has no left channel ...

remedy: open the unit and check the loose cables or/and disconnect and reconnect all input/output connections on both mainboard and front panel. Works like a charm now, probably transportation caused the problem. Resolved by Johen @ g66. Big thanks!!!
