    Axe-Fx Firmware Version 21.00 Release Candidate 2 (Beta 8)

I played a real JVM410H for some years. The clean and crunch tones were great, but I was never really happy with the lead channel. Always missed some attack and character in the OD2. I mainly used the OD1 channel and a Xotic Booster for Lead. Best Marshall sounds I ever had were with a rig...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 19.00

Of course it's much easier and quicker to experiment with 'simulated' tubes, by just changing the parameters in the axe. I remember messin' around with different tubes in my (real) Vox, Marshall, Fender, Soldano etc. amps. It cost me a lot of money, time and nerves(!). One of the best...

    Axe-Fx III 16.00 Beta 11 "Cygnus" Firmware - Public Beta #8

Yeah, ten years ago I'd have declared everyone a liar who'd tell me this was made with a 'modelling amp'

    Collecting guitars for fun. Thoughts?

Thanks, you make me feel better. My score is 17 guitars hanging on the wall and there is no one I would like to sell at the moment, because they're all different. Good guitars are several values in one thing: A fine piece of wood, a piece of craftwork and something to actively express your...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 13.00 Public Beta

Indeed, the drive blocks sound much better with v13 ! I had drive blocks in many presets, but didn't make much use of them - the sound became too scratchy and kind of flat. With V13, I tried playing a few songs with the drive block on (after doing some tweaks) and had fun .....

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 12.11

I really like the AxeFX III - I have two of them. Before these, I also owned 2 Axe-FX II XL and one Axe-FX II. Almost everything is possible with the new HW/FW. On the other hand, I get a little bit tired of downloading new FW every few weeks and re-adjusting all my presets. I mean, my tube...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 12.03

We got so much pressure on our ears in the 70s and especially the 80s, from 'real' amps on stage and even in the studio. I wouldn't trust them - let's say above 12 KHz .....

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 12.03

I spent some time yesterday, trying 12.03: Some amp models appeared kind of fresher, more 3-dimensional, hard to describe. But something happened ....

    Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 11.02 Public Beta #5 (Beta_4)

With reduced latency and no audio drop-outs when changing presets/scenes, you can leave axe-edit active all the time when playing. Great. Now I'm waiting for the new axe-edit release to cover the new flanger block ....

    Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 11.02 Public Beta #5 (Beta_4)

Oh, the audience. "No, no guitar amps can't be tube amps, these are long gone - we live in a world of computers and smart phones" Or: "Why do you own more than three guitars? You can only play one at time ..."
