Good Marshall style amps; bridging the gap between vintage and modern?

My actual Friedman BE-100 sounds just like you've explained, briding the gap between vintage and modern dream Marshall tones. I couldn't bond with the Axe models for some reason however. With the new firmware I really like all the other Marshall-based higher gain options (namely the Cameron and...

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

OK... with this update Cliff has really knocked it out of the park. I mean WOW. I did the amp block soft reset for all my presets right away. Played through the factory presets for a bit like I usually do with updates and I have to say everything sounds like its absolute best so far. There's a...

Best poweramp for Axe III (Goal: LOUDDDDD)

Well, as far as guitar goes I think we can agree that it's mostly associated with tube tone, dynamics and feel. Fryette got as close as you could get with the LXII - as transparent as it gets with tubes while still retaining the characteristics you love tubes for. I think it's a perfect pairing...

The more IRs are used, the more realistic the amp/cab in the room sound is

I think you're just simply trying to achieve something that doesn't make sense to achieve through the utilized means (IRs). A recorded sound usually means the recording of the sound of a miked up cab. The amp in the room sound only exists in the room - it's perceived by your ears and it's...

I find the Plexi models all quite dark. Explanation inside. Any help?

Yes, for sure. I also have an LB-2 and used that curve to compare it to the Plexi and actual LB-2 with similar results.

Noticeable benefits of going FRFR cab over guitar cab/power amp.

If you have good studio monitors you're fine. Good FRFR cabs will sound a little bigger and fuller but will have the same general sound signature. If you're looking for a real amp in the room guitar tone like you're used to with a head and guitar cab just get a good power amp and a guitar cab.

I find the Plexi models all quite dark. Explanation inside. Any help?

I tend to agree with the OP about the Marshalls in the Axe sounding quite dark but I'm basing this on the fact that I've actually used real Plexis and JCMs into a Suhr RL - tremendously bright, can get absolutely ear piercing and eardrum shattering. Is it pleasant when listening to it isolated...

Did we forget to celebrate the 6-year anniversary of the Axe-Fx III in January?

We're living in consumerism - getting any longevity of more than 2-3 years out of something is rare. FAS is the best example that companies would still be able to do business like this if they wanted to. Mad respect 🤘

Fractal Audio X-Load & Suhr Reactive Load Comparison

I have both. I generally like my brighter amps a little better with the LB-2 because the impedance curves make them a little darker and more usable. I also prefer V30s to Greenbacks in practice so that also could be it. The RL however has this very dynamic thing going on (similarly to Greenbacks...

    Recommend Active Speaker for FXiii

I'll second that - the EVs sound nicer and more accurate while the FR-12 feels more like a traditional guitar cab in the low end. There's also a massive price difference between them. FWIW, I've ended up keeping a single FR-12 because I'm still more of a power amp - traditional guitar cab guy.

    New 27-year-old Guitar!

And a beauty, too! Congrats! I was also always drooling for a proper Parker. I've had the chance to play a Made in Korea one that wasn't bad but obviously not the real deal for many reasons.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 23.04 Release

@FractalAudio this is in no way a complaint (especially that you squash everything very quickly) just genuinely interested - it seems there are more bugs lately that are related to basic functionality like the Input and Output section and other stuff that I'd imagine you don't really touch...
