    3 Body Problem

I'm a bit terrified to watch it - I hope they haven't destroyed it. Even the change to the title is dumb. The book series was awesome, especially 2 and 3. Best story I've read in a long time.

Mic Preamp Test - Free IRs

I'm not an engineer so can only speculate, but I expect that differences between preamps captured in IRs would be due to impedance of the preamps and subsequent subtle changes to the frequency response of the microphone.

The more IRs are used, the more realistic the amp/cab in the room sound is

I do have real cabs + power amp so am quite used to the real thing. If though, say a preset based on a V30 IR sounds better if I blend in a smidgen of Celestion Blue, then I'll do that and won't care that the result isn't realistic. That's one of the big advantages of using IRs, at least for me.

In my experience a single FF IR sounds the most lifelike, however a blend may subjectively sound better.

    Measuring cab resonant frequency

You can measure impedance using REW with a DIY measurement jig or something like DATS.

    Cabinetron?

It is my favourite IR plugin.

Favorite plugins for post production and how do you use them ?

Of all the plugins I have tried, these stand head and shoulders above the rest: DMG Multiplicity - this is the most useful and versatile mixing tool I have ever used. If I could have only 1 third party plugin, it would be this. Softube Weiss DS1 sounds insanely good. An honourable mention goes...

    Wish Speaker Page Wishes

I have a few suggestions for the speaker page: 1. User impedance curves. I have recently begun capturing impedance data for my speaker collection using REW, having measured over 35 speaker/cab combinations so far. It would be fantastic if it were possible to import impedance data captured using...

Looking for speaker/monitor stands for a standing desk

I use Iso Pucks, which don't provide a lot of height, however I have previously slid a small object underneath the front ones in order to tilt the speaker to ear height, which worked ok. I recently added a keyboard tray below my desk, which added the additional height I wanted from the desk...

    Wish Bad Cat Lynx Amp

I tried a Lynx a few years ago - it was epic! I've been hoping one would appear in the axe ever since.

    Rookie Nurse

Back in my day you didn't have to practice guitar either. Everyone was just good at it because they had heard other people play.

    Rookie Nurse

Practice makes perfect. She'll be nailing IVs in a couple of months.

AFIII Classical Prog Fusion w/ Far-Field IRs

A small company with some very good VSTs. I do like their strings as well, but these do require a lot of editing to make them sound right. The brass though is a breeze to work with.

AFIII Classical Prog Fusion w/ Far-Field IRs

No worries! This is the one. You need a breath controller for it to work, but it's heaps of fun to play and sounds great. https://www.samplemodeling.com/products/trumpet My keyboard is just the cheapest Roland I could find with weighted keys - it doesn't have aftertouch or anything fancy. For...

AFIII Classical Prog Fusion w/ Far-Field IRs

I would shudder to think, haha. No worries, thank you very much! :) I usually record as I go when I’m writing, beginning with an idea on usually a single instrument (or section) then add additional layers until the arrangement for that part of the piece sounds complete. Ideas often stem from...
