I was wondering the same about Sad But True. We play it in Drop D, but I have read that Metallica
did it in D Standard.

Walk - Pantera

Walk = D standard (somewhat flat, closer to C# if A = 440)

TTSNB: D standard, except solo seems to be E standard. There are a couple open G (3rd string) notes just before and after the harmonized bit.

Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
A7X's stuff
I think Black Dog by Zep is also Drop D.
I like to play the LOG songs.. all drop-D
Somehow the playthrough is challenging, but always gets me warmed up. These songs have cool rythm and are the only one I know to play through 😅

Ashes of the wake album:
Laid to rest -> To get into the headbang zone
Hourglass -> to confirm I'm in that zone

Sacrament album:
Walk with me in hell -> Challanging ;)
Descending -> Great riffing
Redneck -> pretending to rip my guitar to parts

I sold my DropD evertune guitar with the Fishmans humbuckers. Now im using a 7 string and dropped the 6th and 7th . Its a challenge to play, but still able to play these songs 👍

Great thread btw, suggestions made here are cool to try to play. Will do so

Cheers 🍻

A drop D thread and no one mentioned Helmet? Yikes! They practically invented it, or at least brought it into mainstream 90s rock.
