Most desired tones that you don't already have?

I've been cooking up patches for some of my favorite players... While there are so many awesome tones out there, I'm curious if there were any sounds that you were really hoping to find in the Axe FX III?

Over the last month I've researched and tried to replicate with authenticity the tones of the following players... Steve Harris, Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Zakk Wylde, Metallica MOP era, Eric Johnson (along with the hold delay feature), Robin Trower, Michael Schenker, Eddie Van Halen (along with Cathedral dotted 1/8th note delay), Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Blackmore, Malcom and Angus Young, Brian May (with signature 800/1600ms delay trick)

On my list of ones to work on are Tom Morello, Judas Priest SFV era, Chris DeGarmo, Kim Thayil, Wes Borland, Tom DeLonge, John Sykes, Mick Mars, Dave Mustaine, Chris Poland, Billy Gibbons (Eliminator era), Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson (Power Windows era). There's probably some that I forgot to mention but anyways...

If there were any tones you were eager to play with then perhaps I could share my preset with you! Cheers!!! :)

Sure...Lifeson (Grace Under Pressure, Hemispheres). Which Van Halen era did you do...only Classic🤘, or also Hagar? Some Rudolph Schenker/Matthias Jabs Scorpions tones would also be cool.

Thanks for asking! Are you planning on sharing all of your tone chasing patches?

I can't seem to find anything that scratches my Tim Henson itch at all. I've gone through tons of presets and amp packs and get close, but ultimately end up mangling it before it gets really good. I'm actually here now to see if there's a vocoder preset around here that sounds like his off of the song Nasty.

I’d love to hear some Iommi (LOVE his tone but can’t seem to recreate an exact Iommi sound)

Same thing with Angus and Malcolm... I get close, but then it’s just not right.

Same thing with Billy Duffy (Firewoman in particular)...

Thanks for the effort!!!

this might help you get to Nuno's tone. these are cabs by the way.
Ty Tabor, early King's X tones.

Nuno Bettencourt, Extreme tones.

Really interested in the Alex Lifeson tones.

Maybe Guthrie tones off his work on Steven Wilson albums.

Would love for you to share presets. I'd be willing to buy them. PM me if that might be an option.

Yup I still haven't created something I'm happy with for Lifeson for both Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows.

How about some “early” KISS tone (Strutter/Detroit Rock City)... It’s so hard to nail because I think the isolated guitars are cleaner and brighter than they sound in the mix.

It seems we share a lot of the same guitar heroes:
Iommi
Angus/Malcolm
Priest’s SFV era
Maiden
Zakk’s HUGE tone

I’m using the FM3 - if these can translate well, I’d be happy to pay you for them + early KISS and a Billy Duffy FireWoman patch👍 PM me...

Nuno's tones on Pornograffitti are some of my fav of that era...but the iso'd tracks made me realize it was the mix that was killer, not that tone.

I had the Randall NB King 100 amp head and it gave you that brightness for the screaming but the amp had no bottom end what so ever no matter what kind of adjustments you made and I have to have bottom end along with the rest so I sold it. now its the axe fx 3 and 2 friedman asc-12's power cabs. Try those NB412 cab ir's i posted and let me know if they work for the nuno tone. I have different mixes of those cabs.
