“Ebola” Virus.
“Lassa” Fever.
“German” Measles.
“Spanish” Flu.
“West Nile” Virus.
(the list goes on)
“Chinese” Virus

You forgot African Killer Bees! ✔
pssst: neither Lassa or Ebola are places.

And it ain't so much using the phrase Chinese Virus. It's who's doing it. And why.
It really should be called the Wuhan Virus if we want to be accurate.
But that wouldn't have the same 'impact'.

Lassa and Ebola are both locations where those viruses originated. Ebola is a river and Lassa is a town.

“Chinese” Virus... “That’s racist!”

Using the past to defend the present is a slippery slope. What other terms that have long gone to the proverbial grave shall we resurrect?

Evolution on a cultural level demands setting a higher bar for everyone. The term encourages xenophobia and racism. We can do better with nothing sacrificed in terms of concise expression and much to be gained in terms of improving the world we live in.

So this one should be could BATs?

Maybe. This is/was the working theory;

"A member of the coronavirus family, COVID-19 is a zoonotic disease — meaning it jumped from animals to humans. These viruses often originate in bats, according to Daszak, but may travel through another species on its way to infecting humans.

He and other researchers have found over 500 new coronaviruses in bats over the last 10 years. But Daszak says bats are very rarely found in wildlife markets like the one where the outbreak likely began.

Researchers in China suspect the endangered pangolin may serve as an intermediate host between bats and humans, but Dazsak says that pangolins are also rarely found in wildlife markets. Though it’s the world’s most trafficked animal, pangolins are typically killed and their scales removed for medicinal use."

3 week stay at home order just implemented in Michigan. Can only leave for essential goods/services (groceries, medicine, gas, medical attention, etc), exercise, walking pets.

This is interesting. Based on observations by ENT doctors in the U.K.

"Loss of smell and taste could be coronavirus symptoms"

Same thing in Missouri starting today. My high schoolers start online courses tomorrow. My daughter is on college spring break and the rest of her quarter is going to be online so she won't be going back. She is supposed to study in Florence, Italy in the Fall...

We need to grow up and realize giving power to a word, so much that one person becomes angry, one's feelings are hurt and another's life and reputation are destroyed is immature and foolish. There will always be people, there will always be words and attaching such a heavy price, meaning and emotional chaos is insane. It's the norm nowadays to read more into something than there is because, well... you don't gain equality you get special privilege, which is truly unfair.
This doesn't improve the world at all. Everyone has opinions and you shouldn't hate or shun them no matter what their views are.

You see again and again someone thinking their view is best for society, yet they are the ones that will destroy anyone who gets in their way for the good they are doing for people o_O there's also a great movement to keep the past alive which keeps us separated

Bats eat insects... mosquitoes carry Malaria.
Malaria is a parasite... A SARS/Malaria hybrid?
Malaria drugs seems to partially effect Covid.
We have cheap large supply of Malaria drugs.. when only a few thousand people a year.. catch and bring home Malaria from equatorial areas. Are we expecting a malaria outbreak

I would guess if it's a natural virus.

A parasite is responsible..

If its unnatural.. a parasite was used to develop a hybrid
