Fractal Facebook page

Forums are more specialized, and take more “effort” to participate in. So it makes sense that forum members are more serious, knowledgeable and friendly than your average FB user. Moreover, it’s easier to moderate a forum, so people who are looking to start trouble are shut down quicker.

Yes, I also see forums as self-governed, the bad ones fail, the good ones...well like this one...prosper.
Facebook...the one-world order, social media application...brings out the raw, underlying, visceral, angry Frankenstein in me. :)

I don't go to FB often and when I do I'm reminded of why I don't like it. Anonymity brings out the worst in some people.

I'm on it for promotion of my band. I don't post often, but it has to be uplifting or funny, but not in a mean way. I have un-followed many friends because they post (or more likely, re-post) political stuff in both directions - not interested. I prefer to remain positive!

I also purged my Twitter account and rarely post there now. Also an excellent decision and highly recommend it.

is there a way to like unfollow everyone and delete people from following you- like in bulk/mass/all at once?

i think in the last 3 years my account got hacked 5 times- i don't even think i know my password but i mostly follow porn stars i never added and spam sites i never added- i'd like to get a fresh start

The thing with Facebook groups I've noticed is that it's designed foremost for constant content creation, and there's no structure for building up useful content. So the same questions get asked everyday, same topics everyday, ad nauseum. There's really no community, it's just whoever can get noticed for the day by saying the most inflammatory or wrong thing. Or some ridiculous topic that everyone has an opinion on. It has no memory, it's all flushed down the feed and repeats the next day.

Forums remember. You can link to posts, search through them, notice who the contributors are, build up a knowledge base, have helpful stickies, subforums as necessary, etc. None of that on fb groups, it systematically doesn't allow for a community to build. Which is unfortunate, cus I think it has potential. But that's not how they make money, so oh well.

Social media is evil - there was a time when people actually talked to each other. Its quite annoying when you go to dinner with another couple and they sit there and stare at their phones the whole time. This forum is the only thing I kind of participate in and take a quick look at every day - mostly for learning purposes. Neither me or my wife are on any kind of social media. We know a lot of people who have kids that have had the police involved in social media issues with other kids - its crazy.. just doesn't interest me...

Facebook's aim is spreading news and ads, it's clearer everyday...
Facebook’s aim is harvesting and selling information about you. They know who you are, what you like, where you live, who your friends are, what they like and what you say to each other. You are the product. That’s why you don’t have to pay for it.

Yes of course

I'm on FB a lot and participate quite a bit on the Fractal page. The announcement of the III brought out a bunch of tools and trolls, and I was very happy to shut them down and report them. The Admins of the page are trying to rid the place of those people. I do point those looking for real help to these forums, but also make an effort to be helpful on FB, as well. It's hard to filter through the asshats sometimes, but there is a block function. Needless to say, my block list is long, LOL.

Couldn't agree more. Social Media is the worst thing Man has ever created. Unfortunately, from a commerce point of view it is necessary on some level if you want to be competitive, But never FB.

Thankfully, a well moderated Forum allows for a discussion (exchange of Intelligence ) vs. an argument (exchange of ignorance)

I was on facebook for about a week until I realized that I really didn't want to know how stupid my friends and family were. Makes holidays really awkward. I also think that there is this competitive thing where people try to say things that they think will trend or make them look special. There is also a major disconnect communicating by posting vs face to face. Too many nonverbals are missed. I'm a sarcastic SOB and it gets lost if I'm not careful.

It has its uses but the bleeting from some quarters genuinely disgusted me so I scan past and move on

The people bleeting are the sort would moan if Fractal never released anything new
Some people aren't happy without drama in their day

I deleted my Facebook account over a year ago. Excellent decision. Highly recommend it.

Haven't had Facebook since 2013, just about ready to pull the plug on Twitter too.

I'm on all the Fractal Facebook groups/pages, and I've found that a lot of the people that are on there (not the majority) are non-fractal owners that do seem to be there to bash the system, and that's fine if that's their prerogative, but I do enjoy calling them out, and when they are moaning about it being overpriced or lousy, clearly stating that it is, by far, the best single piece of musical equipment that i've ever owned.

Lol. I worry about this happening to me around here sometimes.
I don't tolerate rude , self absorbed people well , so I try to Ignore the VERY few posts here that I've seen with that (tone) , BUT , like you just said , sometimes it's really hard to tell where people are truly coming from.
The park police do a damn good job on this forum.
I see the new III - has brought some new blood to the forum too. Good and bad. Lol
Facebook = a place for fools to VENT , and other fools to BRAG.

My first experience on TGP - years ago , I was discussing some expensive preamps and compressors I was using , and without notice I was in a pissing match with some bozo before I realized I had gotten sucked into the " Bonehead Zone ". Never went back.
