Chris Cornell..... :(

I'm devastated my friends, this was unexpected...
Yesterday evening I was jamming in my dining room and "steel rain" song came from somewhere. Today we wake up with the saddest news...you will be missed!
I was fortunate enough to see him in a very intimate acoustic concert at Barcelona Aliança Theater in 1999.
He was so down to earth...Chris was one of those few who sang to thousands but you could feel like he was just singing to you.
I was excited about this new soundgarden era, so sad...
I wish none of his fans follow his path, music must be a safe place, remember the happy moments:

I remember a festival around 2006 here in The Netherlands, with Audioslave among others. It was one of the grooviest rock gigs I've ever experienced. They totally blew away all others including Velvet Revolver, Ozzy etc.

I was there too. Great lineup that day. Besides Audioslave there were Mötorhead, Velvet Revolver, Black Sabbath (first and only time I saw the original lineup) and Rammstein. Besides their own material Audioslave also played some Soundgarden and RATM songs, which I personally didn't think they should have. Well, maybe the Soundgarden songs. Not because I'm a big Soundgarden fan, but Cornell's voice just didn't suit the RATM songs. And with two albums out at that time Audioslave had enough good material of their own for their set.

Maybe not known for it, but he was a great add to the resurgence of the new Bond movies (co-song writer, and performed it). Loved this take on updating Bond, very cool visuals, and the song is right in line with the movie:

I loved the song and visuals for the intro of the rebooted Casino Royale, my favourite Bond theme ever. He was an insightful, creative wordsmith as well...a huge talent indeed. Unique and man, what a voice.

Am saddened to hear of his passing; IMO he was the best rock singer of his generation by far, and one of the all time best, easily.

RIP and my thoughts go out to his family.

crazy, that makes 3 of the big ones from that era, STP, Alice, Nirvana; HOpe Eddie V is ok!
Blimey, don't go there! Vedder is literally the last living legend of that style/era. I 'think' he appears healthy, hope I'm not wrong.

Kudos to Pete Thorn. This is the best tribute one musician can give to another who has passed on: telling road and gig stories about Cris, and how knowing him & working with him influenced Pete's life as player, artist and human being. Very impressed and thank you Pete for this revealing, vulnerable and honest tribute.

Very saddened by this news. RIP Chris! Pete Thorn posted a very heartfelt video about his relationship with Chris.
