IMHO regular maintenance is par for the course on all gear that gets used regularlyAlso, on thicker straps, the nut tends to get loose over time so there's a bit of maintenance involved.

I saw Dean Parks using these and I've used them ever since.
The rubber washer from Grolsch beer bottle tops. Those orange rubber washers are the perfect size to fit over the strap button. Strap stays put even with heavy shenanigins.
They are a PITA to get off of the beer bottle top though. I use a pliers.
Has anyone ever used these things ? They look like they would work - and similar to the beer bottle things...

Loxx. Best design out there for me, strap sits flush with the guitar like it normally would. Super easy, super strong. I put these on all my guitars.
Cheers

Same here. Every time I pick up a new guitar that's the first thing that gets upgraded.Schaller since the 80's.
Yeah... the feeling you have when dropping an expensive guitar is like the polar opposite of an orgasm. My '97 LP Special is now well aware of this fact. :cry
