8.02 Recording - Reworked Drives: Pi Fuzz and new Tonebender

PRESET ADDED

Was playing around with some Fuzzes. Not trying to emulate any tonez here, just was looking for a backing track with something legato so I could show the liveliness of the drives.

Is it possible that these drives sound much more analog/lively than before this release or do I hear ghosts?

Anyway, it's real easy to get great stuff out of the fuzzes now with the new features. I prefer the Pi Fuzz, but as it's new, I made also a second clip with the new Tonebender.

Oh I used a Humbucker guitar, might be SCs would have been better for fuzz, but well, I have 11 guitars with HBs and 1 with SCs, do you see any slight preferences there?

At the beginning there is some clean/crunch noodling to show the sound without the drive (Plexi2).

The Tonebender is scary good. With the drive maxed it dose a gorgeous splaaaattttt like my bender I have here. Scary good.

That tonebender does sound killer! Sounds so much like the real ones I have messed with but never owned till now!

Great, I'd finally decided that overdriving the amp was the way to go and you go and do that! ;)
Awesome tone and playing mate

sounds really nice man!:)
what "theme" are playing here?
it sounds so familiar but i just can't remember where i did hear this one before!:(

cheers

Thanks for the kind words all.

I will post the patch tomorrow, gotta hook up the Midi stuff.

The song is parisienne walkaways by G. Moore, it's always borderline with sounding like a soft porn backing track LOL

Very nice indeed. I too had decided that hitting the input of the amp block hard was the way to go. And I still will use that method, but now I really gotta take another look at the drive models too. Great tone. Love that song too. Had heard it before but had no idea it was Gary Moore. And you're right. It does teeter on the edge of soft porn. Reminds me of the "Emmanuel" movies that I'd sneak into the living room late at night and watch on HBO. Oh c'mon! Don't act like I'm the only one!

Preset has been added in OP.

Keep in mind that it was recorded through VHT2502 and G12H30/SM57, so you might have to tweak the cab for FRFR.

Awesome, thanks! :)

Hunter-

What IR are you using for your Pi Fuzz preset? Also, where in your chain would you add a pedal-controlled (for octave shift) Ad Whammy + 1 Oct for a David Gilmour Whammy Effect like in The Blue or Marooned?

I loaded your preset and plugged in my DG Relic using a standard 2x12 Tweed in the Axe and whoa and then with the magic switch even more whoa! I think it might quite possibly be the best preset I have ever tried and I have been on a tone quest for "that" sound for years. I am a crappy guitar player but I love to try. If I get the guts I might just post a clip.

Thanks for sharing and for making the time to do it right! The preset inspires me to play and to stretch.

I actually probably like this more than Gary Moore's version (and I'm sometimes a Gary Moore fan!) Great playing, man, and awesome fuzz :D
