FM9 - Volume pedal - use the block at the beginning of the grid, in the middle, or at the end?

Always after the amp and before delay/reverb/ambient FX for me. I don't want to cut off those ambient FX going when doing volume swells and I'll use my guitar volume control if I want to lower the volume in front of the amp to impact the gain.

Tuner default at boot

I have mine set for the tuner to activate when the volume pedal is bypassed. It doesn't boot up into the tuner, but all I have to do is move the volume pedal to heel-down to go to the tuner.

Not everyone needs multiple amp models. And to my ears, amps still sound better than a modeler with an FRFR monitor. But there are definitely cases where going direct with a modeler is the way to go. It’s great to have a tool that can facilitate multiple use cases, and do so with excellent results.

The Magica is certainly a great amp. I have run 4CM with my RedPlate Blues Machine 66 on occasion and have not noticed any coloration of the amp tones when the effects are bypassed. I have been very pleased with the FM9 in 4CM on the few occasions that I have used it that way.

IIRC, the reverbs are on their own dedicated core and changing the reverb quality does not impact CPU usage. Edit: Confirmed. I can change the reverb quality from Economy to Ultra-High and it does not impact CPU percentage at all.

We’ve seen that exact scenario in the past. If there’s an amp modeling change, the number will be incremented even when there was only a Beta and no official release. But I don’t work for Fractal and they could choose to handle it differently. I’m just going off of what has been done before.

I would not like that at all. If I'm editing the amp block, and then turn on the delay just to see how it sounds, I want to stay on the block I am editing. If implemented, I would prefer that as an option in the editor.

Yeah, that's a good price. I bought one off Reverb that was priced a bit higher than that, but it wasn't too high for my comfort level. I'm not worried about the lack of a warrantee. I'm glad I went for it when I did. I'm much happier with it than I was the FM3.

Scenes vs Patches with FM9: Switching speed and CPU

That's not what he's asking. He's asking about switching speed between presets on the FM9. How much of a gap will he experience?

Different devices, different firmware. They will never sound the same. I’d start from scratch and dial in tones you like on the FM3 without comparing it to the AX8 or trying to make it sound exactly like the AX8. If that fails, sell the FM3 and use the AX8.

Gapless scene switching?

FM9 has two amp blocks available so you can seamlessly switch amps by using the two amp blocks rather than changing channels in one amp block.

Yes, the FM3's on-board jacks can function as Stand-In Switches, it thats what you are asking about. In fact, one FM3 jack can support two switches, something the FM9 cannot do. That was discussed in the main FM9 introduction thread.

AITR

What should be available for download? The user IR banks are empty unless you load something into them. Unless I'm totally misunderstand this, the discussion is about eliminating half of the empty user IR slots, not eliminating any of the IRs that are loaded in the unit from the factory.

Why no 'Global Blocks" ? Technical limitations or something else ? PLEASE PLEASE

Yes, you can cut and paste blocks from one preset to another in FM3 edit. You can also save blocks in a library that can be recalled in a preset. To me, global blocks would be the most useful if you are making changes on the fly at a gig and you want those changes saved across multiple presets...

I had an FC6 along with my FM3 for a while. Just didn't like that they were two separate pieces. Went to the 2-button stand in switch and dealt with the shortcomings (from my perspective). The extra switches are not the only factor. I'm thrilled with the FM3, but the FM9 will meet my needs...
