The more the master volume is set high, the less bass you should add, especially on the Plexi models, and the drive should be minimal as well as you get your gain from the power amp or otherwise it can get flubby

I am sitting on the fence with my review. AX8 to FM3 (EDIT, I have climbed down from the fence now..)

My advice would be to never judge a unit by it’s presets. The easiest way in your situation would be to choose the same amp and cab IR you have on your best AX8 patch to compare with the FM3. I had the AX8 and it’s not that far behind the FM3 in terms of tone. But The feel is way better with the...

Does anyone land on a single IR or IR blend for live use?

Kemper user here who just got an FM3 - blown away

True! I had packs form both Mbritt and Top Jimi and I agree their profiles sound nothing like their demos. With the FM3, I download some Leon Todd presets and they sound glorious just like him!! Well, I'm not that glorious sounding myself but it's good enough to put a smile in my face as well!! :)

George’s tone is huge on that album! A lot of oberdubs obviously, but the result is massive! Including his clean tone with that bell like huge chorus with tones of lush reverb! He was still playing heavily modded Marshalls at this point. I think the Soldano era began with Wicked Sensation!

How to achieve this tone of Frank Gambale?

There's an obvious flanger effect thickening his tone on that clip! You get that same effect on Kirk Hammet intro solo for Fade to black where he also use a flanger after the amp. Yup, flanger is the key ingredient for that tone!

Use Axe Edit. Select an empty preset slot! Press the import button and choose the preset file you wish to import! Then, you can listen to it and edit it as you wish! If you don't have any free preset slot, any preset you import won't erase the one that was there before unless you save it!

CAE 3+ and JMP-1 model question

Well you can change the poweramp tubes so it dosen't really matters which poweramp is model! JMP-1 comes with an EL34 poweramp so swap those for 6L6 if you want a tone close to what a VHT PA would give you and so on with all the other tubes options!

True! And using less gain help reveals your picking dynamics! With too much gain, picking hard of soft won't be different on your tone while while it will have a drastic change with lower gain settings!

My guess is it's pretty accurate. The relative behavior of the knobs to the actual amp model was introduce with MIMIC some Firmware ago. I don't think there was improvement on this from Q5 to Q6.

Well, I would say it really dosen't matter anymore to me. I use and trust my ears. I don't own any of the amps the Axe fx replicate so I don't really care if the drive knob or any other parameter behave exactly like the real thing. As long as it sounds good, I'm happy!

Well, to get that Gilmour tone, you need to play a strat type guitar with single coils! Strat sound is unique. And Gilmour tone is all about strat sound. A humbucker pickup will never sound like a single coil, even when it's split. Fact is some guitars have a signature sound you just can't...

Which is the Real Amp?

This was big part of Stryper's guitar tone! I read Michael Sweet use a PEQ before the amp boosting around 800Hz! I was a big fan of their work and tone! Great trick!

Anyone else enjoying the new Satriani Amps?

Both crunch and lead channel are awesome! I keep master volume pretty low, around 2 as it seems to be this model sweet spot! This is a plug and play Marshall, not much tweaking needed to get a great sound. One of my favorite in the box for sure!

My Cover of Satriani's "Crying" - played using the JS signature model in the Axe FX II

Wow!! This was awesome!! Great playing and the tone is perdect! Even better than the original! Joe Satriani really needs an Axe fx!!

Sorry, I'm heading to Vietnam axeless right now! I might have use a wrong word, by 12% and 24 % I meant the feedback value of the delay. So it might simply be 12 and 24. The delay type was the digital stereo and the Dual option. My mistake, hope it helps!

New JS lead amp experimentation

Medium room reverb, about 30% wet. Stereo delay, dual, 600ms pan left and 400ms pan right. 24%repeat for the right and 12% for the left. It gives that spacial echo Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are known for. Oh and I use the Delay eq to filter highs and lows. 200hz and 5000khz

I really like this new Joe Satriani Marshall model. Just playing for fun with basic settings. No drive pedal, just amp, cab delay and reverb to get that JS vibe. First part of the clip is the JS lead OR, and second part is JS lead Red. Default value set the Master volume at only 2, and this...
