    Komet models

+1 to this ! Also try putting KT66 tubes in that bad boy for some really dynamic and thick vintage blues and rock tones. I have KT66 in my real K60 and in my AXE III K60 preset - it just makes that amp sing to me.

Studio monitor upgrade from A7X's to...

Lots of good monitors to choose from. Dynaudio LYD48 is really good bang for the buck, but personally I'd look at ATC and get the best of those that you can afford (buy right - cry once) The ATC 20's and 25's are both killer, but if you can swing take a look at the ATC SCM50A Pro's. I'm on ATC...

    RIP Robbie Robertson

A long time hero of mine, Robbie Robertson of the legendary The Band died wednesday at the age of 80 years after a long illness. The Bands farewell album and concert movie "The Last Waltz" have been essential to the way I listen to and think about music. Robbie's playing on the Last Waltz was...

Gamechanger Bigsby pedal - FA approaches?

Totally Off Topic - But the guitar player looks like a young Rick Mayall. That combined with the look on the keyboard players face roughly 18 seconds in has me waiting for Ade Edmondson to enter the scene and trash everything.... Sorry I'll show myself out....

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 22.00 Public Beta #5 (Beta 11)

I was going to ask @FractalAudio whether a Hiwatt 4x12 cab with Fanes would be added, as they are very special and do not sound like any of the existing cabs. For all us Pink Floyd fans a Fane loaded Hiwatt cab would be a great addition.

    FW 22 revelations

Makes a lot of sense as - IIRC - the '65 BassGuy model is based off Dweezil '65 Bassman head, that was (again IIRC) modded by Blankenship to sound more like a Plexi.

CHARACTERS IN THE MINIDISPLAYS OF THE SCENES

I don't have an FM9 yet - mostly due to the small and to me barely readable text in the mini displays on my FM3, original FC 3 and FC 6. I've been waiting for an updated FM9 with displays like on the FC mk II series, but I know that update might not come for a long time. Could anybody post a...

    Announcing FM9 Turbo

I'm in this camp too !! I'm high on the list @G66, but might bail due to the small displays on the FM9, as I have a hard time reading the LED strips when standing on my FM3, FC6 mk I and FC12 mk I. The FC's and one of my FM3's are new in box for the same reason.

It’s Friday the 7th - do you know where your ZenRigs are?

@FractalAudio, you had me at "Chase Nonlinear Feedback" :) Seriously impressive how you keep perfecting my favorite piece of gear. One Very Cool Pedal

I have a Soldano X99 preamp with motorized knobs from when they were first released, toured it for years, still works as well as the first day I got it. So when done right (and I'm sure Chase Bliss did it right) mortised parts can last for decades even with heavy use.

  15. R

Is it just me, or does adding a phaser effect to a lead distortion tone make your playing better?

It's also delay for me, always makes me sound and play better. It's magic.

We cannot keep a bass player so now I am the bass player (and guitar player)

Why can't you keep a bass player - is it because he isn't housebroken or did he bite one of the children ?? Just get a dog instead ! They are also smelly, have bad breath and hair in their eyes, but they can be housebroken and are a lot smarter and more loyal. (J/K - or am I ?)

Announcing the New FM9 Amp Modeler/FX Processor

Unless I'm mistaken the FM9 is using 48 kHz on the SPDIF out like the rest of the Fractal units. The Hosa converter you link to has a sample rate of 96 kHz, so I don't think the Hosa converter will work or solve the problem.

Anyone running the FM3 through a Fryette Power Station?

Hey Sarge, Check out Yek's posts regarding the PS2 - he loves it with the Axe III which the FM3 sounds identical to. New guy here, very close to purchasing the Axe-Fx III/FC-12. I have some questions

The thing is that going into the Axe III everything is buffered from that point onwards, no changing that. I asked Cliff about this and he said that he couldn't imagine how he'd ever get around that. As I said, the sound of the fuzz sim is very very good, but that volume interaction is not...

    Suhr V70 pickups

For a short time I had a strat style guitar with V70 in the neck and middel (HSS style), they sounded good, but I clearly prefer the Suhr V60LP's and ML's over the V70, they are fuller, richer, more "organic" and gooey IMO.

I love the SM57 / R121 combo so much - used that combo as my go to for years. Will try other mics in the studio if time (and budget) permits, or if an artist producer is looking for another sound. Royer makes a R10 that is aimed at recording guitars. It's roughly 40% the price of an R121...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 11.00 Public Beta

If I understand Cliff correctly, you should use this new feature and match the virtual amp to the IR used to get the best possible sound and feel.
