Thinking of getting a Standard to replace my 11R

Hah, I believe I bought my B-Stock Axe-FX at the same time as the other two. Not a single scratch! The only thing I could think of is the plastic plate covering the screen has some wiggle. That's it! I love my Axe-FX so much. If you love your 11, you'll love the Axe-FX even more. It can be as...

    Axe FX bass users?

I LOVE my bass through it. Well, let me rephrase. I love one of my basses through it. I have an old Ibanez ATK-305 that sounds absolutely breath-taking. I'm currently playing bass in a punk cover band, so my tone is aggressive: Very metallic/clanky with some slight dirt on it. Very bright, but...

    9.02 Amp Model Poll

Have you tried screwing with the damping and sag? I find myself playing with these controls less with 9.02 - maybe I just like the response of the models for high gain now.

    9.02 Amp Model Poll

I just upgraded to 9.02 yesterday, and waited until today to give a verdict. The cleans? They're a great change, especially when it comes to on-the-verge of breakup or slight grit. The high end articulation is extremely realistic and killer. The high gain.. wow. I find it SUPER easy to dial in...

    Power Tube Swapping

Changing the parameters is only a small bit of it. Different tubes do indeed have a different EQ curve and signal shaping characteristics. I can attest to a KT77 having more extended lows and a smoother mid section, as if a 6L6 and a EL34 made sweet love, or that a KT88 has a super flat, neutral...

Krank are hit or miss. The models they give to their endorsers are pretty great sounding, but the models they sold for retail.. were crap. At least until recently. I believe a year or two ago, when they made the switch to using KT88 power section, they also beefed up the transformers. They're...

    Amp sim requests

More bass amps would be a nice touch. More everything would be a nice touch! I'm definitely feeling the Savage 120 suggestion. I'd still love to see a VHT/Fryette UL, too. But if no one has schematics and an amp to lend to Cliff, I suppose it won't happen.

v9.0: Setting 5150 high gain preset tips?

My favorite part about 9.0? Ditching PEQ/GEQ blocks =) I haven't even messed with the 5150 model yet! I can't tear myself away from the new recto. I'll probably put all the presets back on and just start new again.

    JBL LSR6328P

Has anyone gotten a chance to play with JBL's LSR6328P's? They're freaking amazing. They blow the $4.3k/ea Genelecs we have at our school studio out of the water for 1/4th the price! They're the only monitors that the MET Alliance ( http://metalliance.org/ ) currently gives the thumbs-up to.

Gig Report... for the BASS PLAYERS!!!

That's pretty much the exact signal I run, except I have a PEQ after the cab. iaxu - it may be your bass. I have an Ibanez ATK and I get the most brilliant, bell-like tone with crazy definition. And that's on a set of year old strings.

Dry Metal tone with the axe?

The Pittbull would probably be the driest tone you could get.. But yeah, the Axe is capable of it. It's just a tweak or two (or thousand) away!

    Good bass sounds

I've gotten nothing but awesome sounds out of the Ampeg amp and the 8x10 cab using the D112 mic. I just threw a studio compressor in front of the amp and a PEQ after the cab then just adjusted for flavor. Using my Ibanez ATK, I get the clangy, slightly overdriven tone that I love. I add/remove...

Trying to nail Dick Lovgren's Bass Sound

Hrm. MBC + Drive + amp (not the Ampeg). He doesn't really use a whole lot of bass in his tone.. those guitars bring a massive amount of low end. This bass tone is sculpted to fit in its own little area.

    Axe-Fx = stringsaver???

Same here! Of course, I'm a rather violent player, anyway. There is a HUGE difference in tone between passively striking notes and giving it some elbow (or wrist). After reading the mesa orange channel thread, I switched over to it and have gotten what I would consider to be my dream tone. I run...

    AxeFX New Feature Suggestions

I'd like to see the HPF go beyond 1kHz. When I mix, I like to use something like Wave's LinMB or another similar multiband compressor, and compress the the life out of the high end (like 3-4kHz+) and then mix it in until it sits well with the rest of the spectrum.

best way to record with AXE

There will be no loss going 24/48, while there will be approximately 6dB of noise added going out of the axe (DA), and into the interface (AD). There is no advantage of going 24/96, except that the files will be in the format of your project. Up to you =)

Wanted to share my thoughts on creating high gain patches...

I can't answer how he runs his, but I run mine parallel and mixed, due to me running a mono signal out to a power amp to feed my 4x12 cab. But, if I were running stereo, I'd probably keep the amps parallel and in mono, leaving the stereo field for effects.

Wanted to share my thoughts on creating high gain patches...

Bumping a dying post here to say that I tried your tactics for dialing in thick metal tones.. Holy crap! I've tried this method before, but I guess I wasn't approaching it right. Lamb of God tone not in my Axe-fx?

I made a post over in Clawfinger's thread. I was trying to mimick their tone off of Ashes of the Wake more than anything. I think I'm in the ballpark, but there's still some stuff that just isn't right..

First Axe recording (rough scratch guitar content)

Tell me about it. After tracking the guitars yesterday, I had to get rid of it. I turned the OH's down a considerable amount, and dropped the smashed room mic a lot lower into the drum mix, as well. It's a lot more balanced. I can't give you exact settings since I'm nowhere near my axe now, but...

First Axe recording (rough scratch guitar content)

http://msburning.com/jesus/Pirates.mp3 The guitars are scratch, but Axe. The bass is axe, as well, but it's staying in the mix. I put white noise into it because the band requested a song to give out to some possible new guitarists to learn, and, seeing as I'm just a guy with some mics, I've...
