Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

no. update firmware, hard-reset the amp blocks you use and dial them in again. that's all there is to it. but i think the "amp blocks you use" part of that is what is causing some worry and confusion. i think most "working professionals" have 1 to any number of presets they use regularly, and...

    3 Body Problem

i don't know the science but it was very interesting and i liked it! i have so many questions about the plot and can't wait to see what they do for the 2nd season if it happens. i know it comes from the books, but i don't wanna know any of that yet :D

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

i just see it as if you load an amp and start adjusting and it sounds good, it is good. if you want to have the factory defaults for sure, do a hard reset.
  7. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

In my experience when you load an amp block it loads the same TYPE you had loaded before, but all parameters at at defaults. I did not do an in-depth test for this though.

Do you have a noise gate on in the Input block?
  10. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

hard reset fully resets everything. soft reset resets some things. if you want to reset everything do a hard reset when you start working with an amp. that's all there is to it.
  11. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

yes this comes up everytime a major amp change happens.
  12. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

note that the Block menu shows "reset channel" so it resets the channel. i believe on hardware, the Reset that appears in the Edit screen of the Block also resets just that channel, but i haven't done that in a while and i'm not at the gear now to confirm.

    My Main Preset

yes. i recommend this for people with an FM3 who "probably" want reverb in their preset, put that block first with settings you may use, and just leave it disconnected on the side of the grid. make your preset and you'll see what CPU room you have as you add blocks. anytime you have must-have...

    My Main Preset

a previous iteration of this preset got close to 80% on the original Axe3. it had the 2nd pitch block connected. as i worked on the preset, i didn't want to use the 2nd pitch at the time, but wanted to be able to add it later. by keeping a block i may want later in the preset, it uses the CPU...

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

In my experience, inserting an amp block to a preset (completely blank or one that doesn’t have the amp block) it loads the last type/model that was used at default/reset settings. someone mentioned that loading an amp block from the block library will load it at default settings. Development with the next firmware

it takes as long as it needs to discover bugs and fix them usually. could take less than a day, could take weeks. depends on what we need to test. seems the gapless testing was happening, and the amps got an update while that was going on, so they decided to add the amp updates as well. often...

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

thanks. i was testing on amps that didn't have any of those types of switches in Tone page, but that's what i was referring to with "things like Input Trim..." i've edited that part to include a mention about these special types of switches specifically. in my mind, i included those.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

ok just got home and tested. the following primarily has to do with "soft reset" of an amp block (selecting another type then back to the one you want) and the choice of Authentic or Ideal for the Tone Control Display settings (Hardware, Setup>Global). i use the word "page" below but could also...

that's the gist of what i'm sensing too, though i know Level does not change back to -12 dB, as i have to pay attention to that when loading amps on live streams, and i think BMT and others also don't change. again not at the gear this moment, but it's what i remember. i believe the Amp block...

i've focused on the amp block a lot recently, so i'll only comment on that for now. say you have an Amp in a preset whatever type, whatever settings. if you change to a different type, the advanced settings are loaded at default. and i'm not at the gear right now, but i believe the Basic page...

if someone can record a simple amp/cab preset on 24.xx, note ALL amp settings, then update to 25.xx, record the preset without changes, then hard reset the amp block, put the settings back exactly and record that, we could all listen and hear any differences. that would help this discussion vs...

    Control Switch question

  34. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

the action happens when you choose an amp type (or hard reset of course). i believe sometimes when adding an Amp block to a preset, it pulls up the last used type/settings, so could be a chance it pulls up old settings from an old preset. i don't know for sure because testing that is not...

  37. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

No. Soft reset is changing to a different amp model, then back. Hard reset is using the Block menu and choosing Reset block. Resetting system parameters… resets system parameters which are primarily your Setup/Settings menus, FC layouts and other things. This does NOT change presets at all.
  38. C

    (FIXED)No sound from W11 through the AFX3

if your headphones or speakers are plugged into the Axe directly, when you hear guitar, you aren't hearing any "interface" part of the unit. that's the direct signal out of the unit. sounds like Windows was choosing something else as the audio interface earlier.

sounds like a bad cable, bad connection either to the guitar or into the Axe. or potentially a loose Input connection inside the axe. if you are using the Front input, try the Rear Input 1 as a test (no need to change any settings). or the other way around if you are using the rear. or you can...

Looper Sometimes being Silenced, sometimes not muting cab mic's?

the Air setting is like adding a direct signal "from a different source". so it's the Air setting causing the DI sound. the mic on the cab is muted, but the DI sound - which doesn't come from the mic on the cab - is still coming through.
  48. C

Confirmed Both amp blocks active in Scene 2

confused as to what the issue is. are you saying in Scene 2, only one amp was on previously, but after the update and resetting amp blocks that 2nd amp was now on and only in Scene 2?
  49. C

    Development with the next firmware

FM9 having a dedicated block for reverb is a huge deal when it comes to CPU. adding 2 reverbs at ultra quality would raise the CPU % number maybe 3%. ultra quality on the FM3 with it's one reverb block is probably around 30%, maybe more. so the specifics of the preset are what determine CPU...

Loss of volume and tone was destroyed!

this sounds like you were clipping the input of the power amp, but hard to say as i wasn't there. this would mean the AX8 was turned up too much. this may not be the specific issue, but could be part of it.

  72. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

the firmware doesn't update the presets automatically. a team updates the presets, and if we all get the goodies at the same time, the team wouldn't have time to update them, and it can take a while.
  73. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

People are loading this update to hear the amp changes and trying not to have things change. You may not hear changes doing that. Do what you want, just trying to point out you may not hear the differences.
  74. C

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

Relationship between preset and block library - looks like none?

Correct. Loading the block or channel from the library is to load those settings in that moment. It’s a library to pull from, not another form of preset memory. The library exists on the computer not the hardware.

Not a Bug FM9 and FM9 Edit both freeze and unresponsive with drive modifier

i believe gain calculations require a lot of processing. as a test, please remove some blocks to get your CPU down to around 50% or so, then try to add a modifier to the Drive Gain. with your preset as described, it could just be too much CPU being used.
