Well I think I found my speaker cab

I'm sure you're correct that the speaker and cabinet made a difference. You should also consider that you were running it bridged which gave more power to one cabinet. I would run the same setup unbridged on one channel before I drew an absolute conclusion. I'm not positive, but most solid...

Peavey Valverb (tube reverb/trem) - schematics available

I had one of these for a while. Freakin awesome, not sure modeling something specific like this fits the axe-fx philosophy but I wouldn't mind tuning in a similar sound.

Anyone tried an M-Audio UC-33e controller with the Axe-Fx?

Many people, myself included, have wanted to use similar midi gadgetry but you wouldn't be able to make use of all the knobs and faders. The axe doesn't allow enough external controls.

Scratchy/Fuzzy Telephone or AM Radio Patches?

its not really a complete idea, but maybe create some noise with the guitar and loop it and then play something through a band pass filter with the looper going if you have an ultra.

A few questions from an Axe-FX Noob

I personally would put those stereo effects in the effects loop entirely. Out from the axe > outboard stereo effect > back into axe stereo. This will give you more control. Leave your analog boosts, and dirt boxes in front if you must and anything stereo put in the loop. Nothings stopping you...

The only thing better than an Axe-FX...

You're a lucky man. Do you use both at the same time? If so how do you string them together? Having them in two separate cases with a furman each seems like a waste and a lot of extra bulk and space. Why don't you keep them together in one 6 space?

    ART SLA-1 or 2?

Don't own one but know from other gear go with the SLA-2. There is no such thing as too much headroom. You can always mark off where you think your limit is.

    New ATOMIC/FRACTAL AMP.....

I agree. Stereo cabs really don't do it for me either. When you have 2 speakers with practically no separation set on the same plain, in the same cabinet (vibrations from the one speaker interact with the other speaker) the difference between that and a mono simulation is very little. IMHO of...

    OEM LCD driver chip

I'm in agreement with you that this is not a sign of any core functional changes to the axe. However, after observing the level of fine tuning Cliff does through repeated firmware releases I wouldn't put it past him to have found a "better" LCD screen. Brighter, better contrast ratio, sharper...

Why do the high end MIDI footcontrollers not have built-in..

I share your ponder. However its pretty simple. People who spend that much on a controller are picky mo-fos and want a specific feel. Others are to damn nostalgic for there own good and insist on having something that feels AND looks like a wah pedal. The other thing I'm not quite on board...

POD XT Live as Controller/Backup/Headphone Amp

I owned one (sold it long before I even heard of the axe) but I do remember it being fairly heavy. You could probably do better in that sense, and would be better off with the midimate. However the expression pedal is decent for a built in pedal. I would however skip using it as a headphone...

    Piano sim/ Preset - Patch

    AXE-FX for a poor men... less US$999

Well put Radley, I forgot to mention that the axe-pc might bring the quality of the axe to a sub 1000 price. Given you need a CPU to match and there will be issues that go beyond the plug and play simplicity of current hardware versions but it will surely widen the fractal audio customer base.

    AXE-FX for a poor men... less US$999

I can sympathize with your wishes but have to say I'm glad the axe-fx exists in its current state. The "what's the best effects/ amp modeler I can build" state. If Cliff listened to some marketing tard like the ones Line 6 probably has spewing BS about price points and who knows what else...

I don't suppose the Atomic FR will have a "dock" for the Axe

I also think they intend to market the fratomic to more than just axe-fx users. Additionally they would need to manufacture one with a dock and one with out for the stereo crowd. That increases time to release, price of development, price to of unit for additional hardware. I also like having...

    Some questions before I order

No one is going to stop you from plugging it into a boombox aux in... However no one here will standby and admit it'll truly do the axe-fx any justice. If you're going to spend that much on a piece of gear spend a little more and get some prosumer near field monitors. Or a decent pair of...

To Axe or just use a Marshall JCM 900 for a gig?

I think it all comes down to how much time you have for rehearsal and tweaking if you've got the better part of a day to run through your patches at volume go for it. You might also consider taking out amp models and certain post effects and just using it as an effects unit.

    Art SLA-2, rack spacing question.

If you're really worried about thermal issues you could put the axe-fx below the power amp so any residual heat doesn't rise into the axe-fx casing There are also case fans that you could put across the back if you have rear rails. From the sounds of it though you don't have much to worry about.
