thoughts on using 2 amps (dirty-clean) and mixing them via the Mixer block

The overall approach works with any drive source. I've done it with Plexis, HBEs, and fuzz pedals before. It'll work with small Fenders too. Basically anything. With really responsive amps like a Trainwreck, you can't get away with as large of variations, or the tones vary too much to sound like...

thoughts on using 2 amps (dirty-clean) and mixing them via the Mixer block

Correct. Unless you're doing something particularly weird/gnarly, amps will be in parallel. I don't tend to use a mixer, but the layout is the same (sorry, I don't have ready access to Axe-Edit at the moment): AMP-CAB-MIX AMP-CAB/ I generally don't use a mixer, but the only difference is...

No worries. It's tricky to keep track of it all. I'm going to have to experiment with this to see how long I can make one note last. (If the next 10 min. of the wait list ever get here. :p)

    How many delays at once?

If I'm understanding the documented options correctly (I'm not in front of my II to confirm), that's what gave me the DLY = 2 delays count. Is there something I'm missing?
  6. scarr

    How many delays at once?

    Check my math: PIT in Quad Shift = 4 delays (x2 blocks = 8 delays) DLY = 2 delays (x4 blocks = 8 delays) MTD = 4 delays (x2 blocks = 8 delays) MGT = 40 taps (x2 blocks = 80 taps) PLX = 8 delays (x2 blocks = 16 delays) TTD = 10 taps (x2 blocks = 20 taps) 8+8+8+16 = 40 pure delays (i.e. you can...

Ok, I'm with you now. I took "operating systems or Apps/software" to mean the devices themselves, but your point was more about things outside of the device changing, and how that has an effect on the ability of the device to interact with the newer outside things. In that case, yes, I agree...

You just listed a bunch of newer things. The iPhone 5 I'd been using for work (until very recently) wasn't able to get OS updates, or app updates that required the new OS. That doesn't mean the apps I had on there or the older OS "stopped working".

If you don't see value in the III, there's no reason you have to move up from the II now. Absolutely wait until you find something you want. The II is still an amazing piece of kit! This argument is flawed because: 1) A laptop or iPad will continue to do what you purchased it to do. You just...

thoughts on using 2 amps (dirty-clean) and mixing them via the Mixer block

Looks like you worked through this on your own, but you're on a path to great clear (not clean) gain tones: Try dialing in your more/full drive setting first. Then duplicate that on a second amp, but adjust the gain (or sometimes amp volume) -1 or -2 (o'clocks?), then layer that in -3-6 dB...

Problem: On the Amp and Drive blocks, we have a standard set of controls, but they don't always match what the original gear has. Trying to remember which knobs represent the actual gear (e.g. "how many knobs did Fender put on this particular model?", "is this a master volume Marshall?", or...

    Wish Synth Block updates? Polyphonic?

artzeal, The Boss SY-300 was doing full polyphonic synthesis from a guitar input in 2015. Pickup selection and tone knobs even have an effect. It's definitely possible. The AFx's synth engine sounds much nicer than the SY-300 to me, so I'd be thrilled to get that polyphonic functionality on...

    Only 2 Amps?

The question is what the oversampling rate is "currently" in the III vs the II. That isn't 100% accurate. The key with the Cab block is to think of it as just an EQ, or a low-pass filter. (In the II, it has some reverb too, but ignore that for now.) Anything that could generate higher frequencies will have those frequencies lowered if placed before the Cab. That isn't...
