Atomic Amps - "Coincident Linear Reference" Designed by Jay Mitchell

The advatage of Coaxial speaker is simple, both the woofer and tweeter are located at the same point, so your sound comes from the same point in space.... just like in real life. The distance between your ear and the woofer is always the same as the distance between your ear and the tweeter...

    Plek your guitar?

Plek is a tool, the final results still depend on the operator. My Gibson came Pleked from the factory and it was OK.... but my tech did a better job on it manually. Of course if he would have used a Plek it might have been even more amazing. He explained to me that the Plek job was good but...

    Version 5.00 firmware preview

I was talking about the damping factors reflections create. This changes with amplitude. IR's are OK if you are willing to ignore these minute effects and round things up. The challenge is to go beyond the capabilities of IR's... Volterra Kernels looks promising.... on paper.... but so far I...

    World's first dynamic Cab simulation

And that's whole point Scott. The IR is dynamically changing. There is a real time algorithm that creates it on the fly. If you listen closely you can even hear it "clicking" in the background as the level fades and the curve is changing. And that's definitely a first, even if it's implemented...

    World's first dynamic Cab simulation

Yes only 1 mic for now (he has plans for 3 mics at the same time) I did load two Mercurialls in a rack for stereo setup with two mics. It works OK if you keep the channels completely separate.... but when I try to mix them I got some very wild phasing. ;)

    Analog vs Digital recording test

All sample rates sound different, I use 48KHz but I will move up higher when I get a better computer. What I like about the higher sample rates is that mixing tracks seems to be faster and easier. That said sometimes with heavily distorted guitar the Analog out on the AXE-FX will sound more...

My attempt at "Dumble" sound--Talk to Your Daughter

How to do a 12 string sound

For a 12 string sound you need to buy a 12 string guitar. You could pitch up 12 semitones but then the B and E string will sound funny, because on a 12 string they are just doubled unlike all the other strings that are pitched up 1 octave. :(

    Technical Brutal Death Metal *Extreme*

OK seriously, I can half dig this except for the vocals. The "sewing machine drums" at some points (ok many points) are just too much. Maybe if the drums had more "balls" then it would be cooler. What happened to the bass player? Let me guess he was too much competition so you killed him. ;)

Recommendations for Gen I Axe-Fx compatible soundcard

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 is perfect unless you are willing to go into the studio level cards like the: Lynx (the L22 can be purchased for $575... worth every penny) RME Metric Halo Do not go to any USB or Firewire, it will just increase latency. ;)

    Are Power Conditioners *really* necessary?

Filtering is irrelevant for the Oscillating power supply that the AXE-FX is using. The power is converted to DC, then it's chopped up to a very high frequency by the oscillator in the AXE-FX before hitting the transformer. ;)
  64. AndrewSimon

    Are Power Conditioners *really* necessary?

Congratulations, you are the only one here who "gets it". Line Interactive UPS (not to be confused with Standby UPS) is the only device that can give some "meaninful" protection to a computer device like the AXE-FX. Of course On Line Double Converstion UPS would be better but that would cost...

Creating Custom IR Blends and Having "Phasey" Issues When Importing Into Axe

Creating Custom IR Blends and Having "Phasey" Issues When Importing Into Axe

I think it's PC only.... the trick is that the file you convert has to be in the same folder as the converter otherwise it won't work. But... thinking back, I'm pretty sure I used Alberts converter too and it worked! So the converter is probably not the problem. :-P
