That's exactly the issue I had. Annoying, as you have to take it apart to really get it bent back well. I presume it may weaken again over time, so couldn't hurt to buy a new spring at some point. I bent mine back a whole lot, so that they put very good pressure up on the lock bolts and held...

5 vs 8 inch studio monitor

If you're just playing guitar through them, then 5" is probably fine for a smaller space. If you have the space and may use them for other instruments and purposes, then you may want to go for the 8" or plan to add a sub at some point. I use my HS80's for bass guitar, a variety of synth...

That's really dependent on the room you're in. Where are your zlx placed and what settings are you using? Mine are typically on the floor, so I use the monitor setting and I also use the live mode, as music and club modes have too much low end. I dial out some low end too, but prefer to do it...

Guitar wall hangers - Neck damage?

Been using wall hangers for years with no problems. Guitars are tools and hangers keep the tools organized and accessible, while not taking up any floor space. I love being able to quickly grab an axe when inspiration strikes, rather than digging the one i want out of a pile of cases.

New Cooling Fan in Axe II

Thanks for the suggestions! Looks like the fan shipped before they could cancel the order, so maybe I'll try to rig up something to use the 80mm fan. Not looking forward to hacking up my case and using JB Weld. If not, maybe I'll look at the 60mm options and try the rubber o-ring suspension...

Damn. I also ordered the 80mm, but now I'm thinking I probably have the 60mm in mine. Just canceled the order until I can confirm. I wonder how difficult it would be to rig up the 80mm fan.

Trying Cabs/Amps for Axe FX in Boston MA

I'm about 30 minutes west of Boston and would be up for an AxeFx get together sometime. I currently just have a pair of EV sxa250's which I could bring along if anyone wants to hear them. Would love to hear other FRFR options like the CLR or just hang out with other AxeFx geeks.

Midi keyboard advice?

For full-range piano stuff, I really like the feel of my Studiologic SL-990 Pro. I'm not a pianist at all, but I'm able to get a nice dynamic response out of it and like having 88 keys to work with. On the downside, it's very barebones and doesn't have a lot of controllers, aftertouch, or USB...

Best Guitars for a laid back strat guy to play rockier for a change

+1 on the Charvel recommendation. I have a Japan Charvel San Dimas that rocks. Same as the one above except direct mounted Seymour Duncans. The neck is fantastic with rolled fretboard edges and perfect smooth frets. Might have to do the coil split mod to make it more versatile.

TouchDAW?

I'm an Android guy too, but it seems the iPad really has a lot more options for music apps. I played around with TouchDAW a while ago and it seems mostly targeted at remote controlling a DAW. I'm sure you could reroute the midi controller data out to an Axe-Fx though, but I just haven't gotten...

How do you get yourself to stop tweaking sounds and just play?

I also have the opposite problem. I find it way too easy to quickly land on a great tone and just play.

Unit hang up (Blank Screen and only crackles out of my monitors)

I'm also having freeze ups on firmware 8, but no crackles...just blank screen and no sound. Reboot fixes it. I've had it happen a few times on preset 24 Friedman HBE. I didn't have Axe-Edit open at all other than when I used it to apply the update. The first freeze up happened with the...

To be honest, I don't know exactly what was wrong or what exactly was the cure. I reapplied the firmware and resent the factory banks to the Axe-Fx yet again. I will say that I sent the banks via Axe-Manage instead of Axe-Edit this time around, so maybe that had something to do with it, but...
