Help me understand Axe II processing power compared to PC/Mac

The TigerSHARC processor has a completely different instruction set and totally different architecture to the Intel CPUs used in Macs and PC, so it is far from easy to convert to a PC - it would be a complete re-write. Modern PCs do have more raw processing power. However, there are many...

    1500 bucks, you say, Line6?

Eloquently put. The power consumption, Heat Dissipation, Noise, External Components and Power supply requirements are indeed very important factors, as well as low (and predictable) latency. Also, you want an embedded system that is robust and reliable, and can take a lot of punishment on the...

    1500 bucks, you say, Line6?

Amen ! Putting the sound quality first is the best philosophy. Also, Spot on about the display, Cliff. I do all my editing on a PC. At a gig, pretty much all I want to see on the display is the name of the patch.
  15. Rezarc SP

    1500 bucks, you say, Line6?

No, they are not. DSPs are specifically optimized for real-time signal processing, and are highly efficient for common signal-processing operations involving repetitive calculations, such as FIR filters and FFTs. The execution time of instructions is much more predictable and consistent...
  16. Rezarc SP

    1500 bucks, you say, Line6?

agreed - it would be pretty uncommon. I have a hard enough time just convincing sound guys to take a direct analog feed via XLR instead of trying to mic-up my K12 ! AES would be pretty exotic in most live situations.

    Axe-Fx II Firmware 19.00 Public Beta #2

haha - I was just re-watching the video of him saying that yesterday. Awesome. Any type of "recommended limit" on axe to audio device cable length?

The inductance of the guitar pickups combined with the capacitance of the cable actually forms a resonant circuit, and varying the length of the cable will change the centre frequency. how would i get my low E string to detune down to drop D with pitch block?

I think I get the point of what he's saying here, which is that in some circles, guitar playing has become more of an athletic endeavour than an artistic one - ie trying to show off how fast you can blast out an arpeggio from one end of the fretboard to the other. There is a no denying that...
