Running With the Dweezil - Pete Thorn - Part 2

Dweezil has new episodes of RWTD with Pete Thorn which are so fantastic that any EVH fan should listen front to back. There are so many cool parts but for this forum in Part 2 at around the hour mark, Pete is trying to adjust his EVH sound with his pedalboard not realizing has been playing...

I'm interested in this from a different angle. I have Custom Mold, Ambient and ones like @unix-guy describes. We've trued them at band practice and can't really get into them. What do you guys to to get a more full sound in your IEM's. DO you modify your mix in any way? It always seems to be...

I think we will see a major product release very shortly from fractal!

As Frank Zappa says in Cosmic Debris, "There is nothing this box won't do" :) That said, the only things I could see would be - something between the FM3 and FM9. An FM6 with a smaller footprint perhaps -Anything focused on the UI to make it easier to adjust in a live situation. With Apple's...

Send Midi Commands from External Device to modify a preset?

Thanks. In my case, setting it at the block level is easiest and each Synth preset would only send the CC if needed. Really appreciate it!! MM

Send Midi Commands from External Device to modify a preset?

That's awesome! And I assume if I map it to say External Controller 11 in the MIDI settings of the Fractal, that it will only receive it if I set up the modifier in the specific patch that I want it to control the volume for? Let's say I wanted on off capability So more specifically as an...

Send Midi Commands from External Device to modify a preset?

So I just picked up the Boss GM800 Guitar Synth which enables more synth tones and updated sounds but unfortunately they have left off the Guitar Out section. The Old GR55 unit enabled you to send your Guitar Out to an external unit like Fractal which had the advantage of switching off the...

Taming a Hot Amp - And thoughts for gain staging with Fractal?

Really great session from TPS today on taming a very loud amp. Got me thinking - I assume you do this with Fractal by setting your Powered FRFR (mine are Atomic CLR) to their sweet spots and then using outputs on Fractal to adjust loudness. Is that what you guys do? Regardless, this is worth a...

    Epic 70’s songs and bands

I saw this tour and saw the Minstrel and Warchild tours as well. At that time, there was probably no better live band. Winger

I must say I never really gave them much of a listen despite the talents of Kip, Morgenstein and Beach. I like a lot of this album. Some is a little too formulaic but It All Comes Back Around is one of the best songs of the year to me. Great from start to finish and that solo is PERFECT.
  15. W

    More new from Nuno

Forgot about that one (It All Comes Back Around). That's a great tune!
  16. W

    More new from Nuno

I expect more diversity in the rest of the album. All 3 that have been released are heavy and Extreme albums always have more than that But the fact that in the first half of the year we will have releases from Wolfie, Foo Fighters, Big Wreck and Extreme is the best Rock n Roll shot in the arm...

    STRING9: Electro-Harmonix did it again

I've seen his stuff. I use it more as a plug in but I think it is very useful either way and with the guitar blended in can be very useful.
  30. W

    STRING9: Electro-Harmonix did it again

Here's a quick demo using MG2. A few horn, synth and elec piano sounds. Still some glitches but you can tweak some of them out with settings and certainly if you combine with a guitar sound, it can go a long way to fill out a band.
  31. W

    STRING9: Electro-Harmonix did it again

Me too. I've been disappointed at way too many NAMMs because they have given up on 13 Pin, I've had Gr20,30,33,55 SY1000 , Fishman and Axon. When I play live I use the GR55 as it is the best of all of those but I'm telling you MG2 is worth a look. When you combine it with the arsenal of AU plug...

    STRING9: Electro-Harmonix did it again

Sounds great but don't want to have to buy each one individually. An all in version would be interesting. FWIW, Midi Guitar 2 is pretty amazing. Tracking if you work with it is on par with the GR55 (which I own). The guy playing with Carl Palmer uses it. Check him out.

Looking for a camera for filming gigs

I'd get one of these. https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/video-recorders/video-recorders/q8n-4k/ The benefit is that it can record XLR inputs (take a 2 track mix from the Board) as well as using the external microphones. MM
  35. W

Cut through the mix: something I do not understand

Couldn't agree more. We added a keyboard player and sax and picking your EQ space becomes critical or you will be in a volume war. And less gain makes a big difference in that situation too.

Concert review: Extreme in Webster, Mass 9/2/22

@grandinq I just watched There is no God from that show and I agree with your review. Vocals are not as crisp as usual and Nuno low string is terribly out of tune from the beginning. What is impressive is how he compensates and then gets the Allen wrench mid song to adjust the tuning. His...

Turning off MIDI (or changing the channel) from the FC-12 or somewhere else remotely

Wouldn't you be able to filter some of the messages coming into the AXE so it doesn't overload on MIDI. Apps like MidiFire (and I'm sure others) can do this. I had a similar problem with too many messages coming into the Axe and filtering is a good approach. https://audeonic.com/midifire/

FM9 Big Wreck - Fear & Cowardice guitar solo

Great playing! Like I said on the post in the lounge, he is the complete package. No one in rock n roll today matches him for songwriting, singing, riffing and playing in total. Incredible. As for that song, as much as I love the solo, it is the riff of that song that is so killer!!

Great video @Cooper Carter . I love these tips and I guess my question is if you have a lot of presets. (with the exception of the pick attack one) why not just go into the Global GEQ output and make these adjustments so that they would apply to the entire gig regardless of preset? Thanks

I gave it a listen and the title track is probably the best. As a Tull fan all my life it has been sad to see them in recent years. Ian's vocal range is not the same anymore and the songs are dropped so many keys that they are hardly recognizable. The band misses Martin Barre (who I saw last...
