    Yes, you need to use Autoengage for both the amp and formant bypass modes. Try setting Autoengage to Medium Speed at first, then try other settings if you need to. Probably best to use the same setting on both blocks.

    Sometimes batteries sit on store or warehouse shelves past their prime. Make sure the next battery has a fresh date. While you're at it, you may want to clean the battery contacts with a little alcohol and a Q-tip while you're in there (and backup your presets before battery replacement).

    I like using an expression pedal like the Mission SP-1 or EP-1 and set the heel position for rhythm, toe for lead. Then I assign the pedal to also control parameters like amp drive, compression, delay and reverb mix. It's smooth!

    You could try blowing it out with a can of air and/or vacuuming out any dust and hair prior to applying any lube. The fact that these pedals reside on the floor makes them a dirt magnet. If the electronics sound scratchy, you could use DeoxIT F5 Fader Lube Spray.
