Mic Preamp Test - Free IRs

I'm not an engineer so can only speculate, but I expect that differences between preamps captured in IRs would be due to impedance of the preamps and subsequent subtle changes to the frequency response of the microphone.

The more IRs are used, the more realistic the amp/cab in the room sound is

I do have real cabs + power amp so am quite used to the real thing. If though, say a preset based on a V30 IR sounds better if I blend in a smidgen of Celestion Blue, then I'll do that and won't care that the result isn't realistic. That's one of the big advantages of using IRs, at least for me.

In my experience a single FF IR sounds the most lifelike, however a blend may subjectively sound better.

Looking for speaker/monitor stands for a standing desk

Does the EQ Block introduce a Phase Shift?

Linear phase EQ only works in post because the latency is problematic for real time performance, unless only used for very high frequencies such as in anti aliasing low pass filters. I believe the EQ in the axe uses the IIR method (infinite impulse response). The other category of digital EQs...

  36. antcarrier

How to use a the Studio FF Compressor as a De-esser?

    AC Line Frequency 60Hz -vs- 50Hz ..... am I imagining this ??

If we are talking about the AC line frequency setting in the amp block, then I doubt that it matters what the real line frequency is, and don't try to match it. Axe FX III DI vs. Dedicated DI Box (e.g. Countryman Type 85)?

I have heard a couple of people say that this is the case, although I interpreted their primary reasoning to be that when using a dedicated DI, you can record the DI track at a hotter level than what the axe FX sends to your DAW. IR Length

The time-of-flight distance required for a a specific frequency to complete a cycle does not matter. Low frequencies can be captured accurately in an IR without extended distance. That is, they are accurate to where the mic is positioned relative to the cab. What determines the accuracy of low...

    Guitar Pickups Don't Matter?

Tone wood is definitely a real factor that affects tone. I am a bit surprised that this is even disputed, because to me, the effect is so obvious. 192 is way overkill, but 24 bit clearly sounds better than 16 bit.
