Should I buy the AX8?

It's not as capable as the AxeFXII, but it is still good :) If things are relatively simple as you suggest, then it'll certainly work for you... and be a bit more portable.

Programmer uses Python to graph what songs were recorded using click tracks

When we used sequencing / click live (full lighting rig and patch changes etc all automated), I would map out and replicate all those natural feel and tempo changes for every song too :cool:

Recording band via a mixing desk or dedicated interface?

Get an Allen & Heath Qu-16 With your 'all DI' set up, that thing will be the absolute bomb as it will record all the tracks individually to a USB drive, so you can playback, tweak and save your changes etc. I was reluctant to enter the digital desk world... but the Qu-16 changed all that

Match delay with clic tracks

Assuming you're using a sequencer and not just audio track playbacks for the click, set the sequencer to 'Transmit MIDI Clock' via MIDI to the AxeFX then set Delays to 1/4 or 1/8 etc as the value, rather than using Ms. They'll ALWAYS follow the sequencer tempo that way and you just have to...

In Ears and Ambience (bone dry sounds unnatural)

I used two ambient miss (nothing expensive) mounted on lighting stands either side of stage front - most often above line of PA These fed into our desk and into everyone's individual in-ear feed - perfect... especially with the main FOH feed being the 'mix' with a little individual bump perhaps...

Is the external modifier on the drive block set to auto-engage..?

Hmm, not in Kansas anymore. Oh my!

The Behringer FCB1010 will suit your needs just fine - absolutely no need for third-party chips etc. However, you do need to suss out how to program it and how the MIDI instructions then correlate to the various functions on the AxeFX. It's not 'hard' per se, but you do need to get your head...

Line6 PodXT - can it make a tolerable tone?

On a slightly related note, I dug my old GX700 out of the loft the other day. It was the first direct-to-live-desk processor that I started using almost two decades ago. Plugged in and expected it to be awful... but it was surprisingly nice for clean and slightly broken stuff - not so great for...

What midi control should i get?

The FCB1010 isn't *that* big... not when you consider the amount of options and features it gives you. Crazy good value - but you do need to fully understand how it all works and relates to the MIDI control parameters in the AxeFX Once you do, there's no need for third-party chips or editors etc

AXE-FX vs BIAS Comparison

Pretty good job there :) The noise in the BIAS examples is ridiculous. Unusable and always apparent even during riffage, so not good... Thing is, I've certainly not heard it to that degree on my BIAS / JamUp iPad Apps...

Ableton live control with MFC-101 and USB

Could you hook the MFC MIDI Out directly to the MIDI In on your interface and then have that pass THRU to the AxeFX so that you can effectively 'intercept' (and capture) the MIDI instructions as they're being passed through your DAW..?

Lag when switching presets. Can it be fixed?

Not sure if this is the case here, but don't forget that having AxeEdit hooked up and open whilst programming creates considerable, additional lag too

Auto Engage Smoothness

If I may interject... I use this approach for 'morphing' between rhythm and lead versions on the same preset / scene. I say 'morphing' because it's not done in the same way that clarky does with a 'crossfade' between two different amps for example I have a driveblock in place with drive and...

Obviously BIASed, but I find the guy quite entertaining... Different price brackets and for me, that's how I frame such comparisons - both excellent at their respective price points

I've had one situation live, when using a different AxeFX to my own, where the output volume dropped considerably. A quick reboot brought everything back to life Some odd things do happen
