    Update through Axe-FX II/ethernet cable?

Has anyone (I would imagine so...) wished for a way to update MFC-101 through Axe Edit/Axe FX II with only the ethernet cable connection? Because...you know, that would be the bomb. Just curious.

Yes, I tried searching the forum. I didn't ask for a tutorial on how to upgrade the firmware with a midi cable. I asked if anyone had wished for a way to do it WITHOUT the midi cable, ethernet cable only. And if not, since this is the wish/bug section, I'm wishing for that.

Oh sorry about that. Thought I linked you to that solution. I'm pretty sure I did it without the midi cable before. Lemme think.

Oh shoot I think I did it without a power supply! Using that method, not without a midi cable haha sorry!

A midi cable is a good thing to have though....

While the MFC-101 controller uses an 8P8C ("RJ45") modular jack and TIA/EIA 568B-wired ("Cat 5") cable to connect with the AXE-FX II, this is definitely NOT an Ethernet interface. The MFC-101 doesn't understand Ethernet voltages, signals or framing.

If you try to connect your MFC-101's Expansion port to an Ethernet hub or switch, you may cause damage to either or both units.

My mistake. I did not mean updating (upgrading firmware) through a switch or router. I meant using the Cat 5 cable connection between the MFC-101 and the AXE-FX II when I said:

"update MFC-101 through Axe Edit/Axe FX II with only the ethernet cable connection"

Basically, using the cat 5 cable in place of the midi cable. Again, this is a wish list...so that was my wish. I'm not attempting to do it. I'm not sure what Neville is talking about.

This has been discussed before. While it would be awesome the verdict was (IIRC, can't find the thread right now) that it was not possible due to hardware, so couldn't ever be implemented.

    Cheers.
