I've been having trouble sending IR's and other people's presets into my Ultra. I also am having the timeout issue with my MFC. (ultra selected on MFC, midi selected as well) midi channel 1 on both devises. Three different pairs of cable tried. I'm wondering if I have an Ultra with bad midi ports? How else can I be having trouble with my M-audio 2x2 ans. and also with the MFC?

Two more things: I can't use the front panel buttons on the Axefx when this happens. Also, I looked at my current preset, and it displays Amp 1: "Tube Preamp" instead of the Energyball I have saved in the Axefx. When I restart the Axefx, it displays Amp 1: Energyball as before.

    Is my Ultra defective?

No way at my unit, all parameteres at the axe and MFC are right, the connection is correct - i couldn't find a mistake.
It is ridiculous to me that with such an expensive device simply technical connections seem so problematic. Other devices had a search- and learning function, or correct the non-/crossover cable at the unit itself.
I have never problems with cat5 cale with my line6 or with my tc g-system gear at the last few years. What's up FAS? Too difficult?
same problems here. From time to time the MCF freezes with the TIMEOUT error. Cat5 cable is ok (bought it from G66), connection and settings are ok etc. Is it really a CAT5 problem? why does this happen? Are these probles also existing in FW2 of the MCF?
What can be done instead of using a midi cable? If they put a CAT5 connection on it it should be working. I agree with Frizzle that this should not happen on such expensive gear.

bummer. Why is this problem not addressed by FAS? lots of people have this problem. Why have a CAT5 connection if it can't be trusted?

You can prove what I said, it is possible that some push button has remained touched and has not returned, then it does not make the circuit free, to try to touch all the push buttons of mfc-101. That happened to me at first, I believe that because they have been to go releasing the push buttons on having been new sometimes they stiffen.

sometimes on having touched the switches, give MFC-101, they can remain touched and that does that it is ordering an order continuously, you must discover which of them is the one that gets stuck and to turn it to pulsate several times so that softer fence. He excuses but not English and I translate this with PROMT.9

I could kick in the tuner and change up and down and even turn on/off individual effects, but I couldn't change from preset#2 to preset#1. The MFC display screen would blink everytime I'd kick a different preset as if it was switching presets but it just got stuck on the same one. I turned it off and on again but the problem persisted. Then I pressed the preset#2 (wich was the preset it was stuck in) and I was able to go to the other presets again... Anyone knows what went wrong?

    Thanks

don't think switches that get stuck (if any) are causing the TIMEOUT problems the problem here. It has to do with the CAT5 connection or something in the software.
Hope someone from FAS joins this discussion because many people have this problem.

Yesterday the same problem happens! Have no idea how to get rid of "timeout" message. I have four different cat5 cables and no solution. All that I did - just pluged out cable then pluged it in. And after that the trouble happens. Is there anybody from FRACTAl AUDIO SYSTEMS get into the trouble the people in the world faced? Happy new year! Please stop drinking and help people that paid you thousands $$$...

just checked. I have two AXE FX II and one MFC-101 and one cable. The problem is in the AXE FX! Because one of AXE FX's is working with MFC with no problems but another one does not! What is the problem with AXE FX may be?

Bad news. Just get the reply from FAS.

It sounds like a problem with the RJ45 jack on the Axe-Fx.

Please inspect it for damage. If you don't see anything obvious, such as mis-aligned pins which can be corrected with a small screwdriver (UNIT POWERED OFF FIRST!) the unit will likely need service.

A couple more things to check if you are not trying to upgrade Firmware that is:

    1. Is the USB Connection mode set to Off?
    2. Is the Send SysEx setting set to "All"?

These are in the Midi page of the Axe.

You can also reset the MFC-101 by holding down button 11 while powering it up. Just another thing to try.
