Hi guys,
there is already a thread about this in the standard/ultra section:
Keith Merrow, Mayones, Ducan -Solo competition - My entry
and I think it should be for everyone.
I don't know if Keith Merrow is in this forum and want to make an official post himself but if that's so then he could just talk to the administrators I guess.
Anyways, I thought I'd post this guitarcompetition where the price is a very nice Mayones 7-string guitar.
Read the rules in the youtube video and post your entry and/or thoughts about this or competing in music.
See I'm thinking about giving it a shot because I could use a goal with my playing at the moment and such.
My problem is the whole competition-fenomenon. What are your thoughts on this? I mean, competing in music?
Music is about taste and flavours, the subjectiveness is so present. How could you make a competition totally objective?
I guess technique, creativity and "feel" etc. are things being some factors the judges look at but I don't understand how they can choose
among say the top. 10. Still, I'm thinking about making an entry but if I do there is some part of me going "don't sell your music and soul to competitions"
and "who do you think you are acting cool on youtube with your fancy guitar going 'o0o0oh look at me'!"
I realize this could all come from the jante law being tattooed in my brain as a norwegian or just as a person.
There is nothing wrong with posting videos on youtube! Where is all this coming from, I watch guitarists on youtube all the time - it's perfectly normal.
Any thoughts?
