    Stoked to the nines!

Hey all, for those who don't know me, I was pretty regular in the forums around March/April of 2011. I was expecting, at that time, an inheritance from my late father's estate. Initially, after a TON of research, I ended up at the Fractal site and was seriously jonesing for an AxeFX ULTRA as that was the best at the time. I read every post in every thread to prepare myself for my new purchase and to be ready. I'm strictly a bassist but wanted to know everything anyways. As it turned out, lawyers seem to enjoy dragging things out as much as possible. Surprise surprise! When I realized that it was going to be months, if not years for them to pull their heads out of their asses and finish this, I kinda stopped coming by here because it was too hard to take. The disappointment was excruciating.

Well, last Wednesday, I got the call from the lawyer. It's done. Just this morning, I ordered the AxeFX II and an MFC-101 at full price so it should arrive possibly this week if all goes well at the border.

    I AM SO FRIGGIN' STOKED!!!

Anyways, I'm back and reading threads like mad. I'll be asking questions and making all kinds of silly comments like usual. Life is good again.

Peace out and see you in the threads. WOOT!!
Did you learn to play through an instructor or on your own?
I learned to play through an instructor, then I got an amp and now I play through that.

Hey guys, it's great to be back. I will definitely be sharing anything I find or am terribly confused with. Like for example, I play in a band that sometimes needs to use a supplied backline. Should I set up the unit with patches to deal with having to plug into an effects loop of a supplied amp as well as having my patches for my rig which will be Axe into a power amp?

ideally, plugging into an effect return or a power amp would be the same thing. it is, however, not.
I went that route a few years ago: Vox Tonelab into the fx returns of the supplied backlines. Sometimes it worked fine, sometimes desaster

You could have two sets of patches:
    1) made for your rig and
    2) to feed a fx return (amp only) and to send a signal to the FOH at the same time (amp & cab) <- this way at least one signal should be decent, or the combination of them

Thanks Don. Good solid advice. I would hope that the send to FOH shouldn't change between the patches made for my amp or made for the effects return of the backline.

    Now for the follow-up questions:

What should I keep in mind when making these patches for a backline though?
What are some of the problems I might run into with said patches?
Should I always keep my notebook running AxeEdit with me for these gigs to make quick changes?

Just started a thread on bass presets exchange. Didn't see the bass division of the forum until now. Anyway, it would be nice to share some bass presets. Bass players are in the minority. And yes, we need more bass amp and CAB models.
