    FX Loop question

I'm fairly sure this has been discussed but I couldn't find it. Is there a way to route the FX Loop block so that it acts like a real fx loop in an amp - i.e, outboard effects are inserted into the chain after the amp preamp and before the power amp? Looks like the FXL block just inserts the effects into the chain before or after the AMP block. Thanks!

The preamp and poweramp are modelled in a single AMP block, so to my knowledge this would not be possible on the Axe.

    My amp goes 'Prrrrr....meeowww'

    Fender American Deluxe SSS
    Ibanez JEM7VWH
    Ibanez AT100CL
    PRS Santana
    Mesa Boogie Stiletto Deuce II
    4x12 Recto V30s
BB+, Carl Martin Compressor, BK Tube Driver, Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Deluxe Memory Man, and too many more to mention
    AxeFx2 MkII --> Yamaha DXR15

Been asked for many times in all these years. Will most probably not ever happen, due to the fact (according to FAS) that it would be easier for other companies to reverse-engineer how the Axe I/II inner works. I donīt know if that is the whole truth or not, but that has been stated as the reason for why the FX loop block is as it is...

Come to think of it, I suppose you could place it between two AMP blocks (AMP 1 -> FXL -> AMP 2) and turn Sag to 0 in the first block, effectively bypassing the poweramp stage of the first block. But you would still run through the preamp again of block 2, don't think you can disable that in a similar fashion...

There is absolutely no need to place your outboard effects between the pre and power amp in the Axe Fx II.
The efx loop between the pre and power amp in a normal guitar amplifier is really a compromise to place time based effects after the overdrive and distortion stage in the preamp.
But in a studio setting or if you look at some of the large touring rigs of top players, you'll see that time based effects are placed after the speakers so you get the sound of your entire rig (stompboxes, amp and speaker cab) with effects on top (often in parallel or as a wet-dry-wet rig) - the Axe lets you do this.
Try putting the time based effects (internal or external) before and then after your speaker sim in a patch, I'm sure you'll then understand what I'm talking about.
Hope this helped - any questions then fire away.

If this was possible, what would it change?

This brings me to a similar question:

I'm currently using the 4CM method and use my overdrive pedal and amp in the FX loop. Everything goes then through the power amp section of my amp and then to my cab.
For live purposes I thought of using this setup on stage, but to also use an alternative output (output 1 right, for example) to go direct. I would like to use my 4CM sound and know I would have to add a cab sim. But in this setup a power amp is missing. Would this have any negative effect on my sound?
