Axe Fx II & Ground Control

I've read that Axe Fx II can power my Ground control with the proper midi cable. BTW, is it just as simple as plugging the midi out from the GCP to the Midi In of the Axe FXII?

Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

if you are using a 5 pin midi cable -> no
if you are using a 7 pin midi cable -> no, unless you plug the ground control's power into the back of the axe fx 2.
you are better off just using a 5 pin cable and power your ground control directly with its own power.
