    Loading Presets Without Axe-Edit (Windows)

How to load presets and/or IRs into your Axe-Fx without using Axe-Edit (Windows):

Download and install MIDI-OX from our support page.

If the preset or bank is compressed, decompress it.

    Launch MIDI-OX.

    Select Options->MIDI Devices

Highlight the Axe-Fx II MIDI in the MIDI Inputs and Outputs windows. Press OK.

Select View->Port Routings. Make sure there is only a single route between MIDI-OX Event Port and Axe-Fx II MIDI In. If a route exists between Axe-Fx II MIDI In and Axe-Fx II MIDI Out, right click on the route and disconnect it.

Double-click the preset/bank/IR that you wish to load. This will open in a MIDI-OX Sysex window. If the file is large it may take a while.

For faster operation select Sysex->Configure and set things as follows:
    Delay between buffers: 35
    Delay after F7: 35

Right-click in the top pane of the Sysex window and select Send Sysex. This will send the data to the Axe-Fx II.

This uploads the preset overwriting whatever preset is currently selected on the AXE?
Well, I suppose you could practice it, but I don't. It just developed naturally — sort of like a rash.

No, it will upload it to the currently selected preset location but will not overwrite it unless you choose to store it (even then you can choose a different location).

Thanks. Tried it and seemed to work for me ... I backed up with Axe Edit first to save my user patches, then used the method above to get all the new banks. Hopefully I can restore my user patches from Axe Edit as needed.

Clickone - if you send the V9 banks as one big sysex file it will overwrite the existing patches from what I can tell.

It should also be mentioned that you dont need to have a MIDI interface for this, even if youre using MIDI In and Out on the Axe.
It works over USB too. Found this out first when i was to update the firmware after struggling with a midi-interface that did not want to work at first.

Thank you, it worked fine, slow, but it worked. Tried the settings you suggested, computer gave an error message about buffer memory, I had to set everything to default and it was ok. Took about 50 minutes. I was watching Ancient Aliens on History Channel and time flew.
Nice work on the new patches, my unit sounds very good through Atomic Reactor active cabs. Each preset sounds ok in therms of volume, still, the princetone is the lowest volume of all but that's ok.

    Thanks again!

Worked fine I think...HOT KITTY on preset 50??

I think this line in instructions:

Select View->Port Routings. Make sure there is only a single route between MIDI-OX Event Port and Axe-Fx II MIDI Out.

    Is supposed to read:
Select View->Port Routings. Make sure there is only a single route between MIDI-OX Event Port and Axe-Fx II MIDI IN.

    Thanks!

My god, I assumed it was [midi over] USB. I'm not interested in using the above approach, but I wouldn't even acknowledge its existence if it were that backward.

Damn! What I did a couple of days ago...
I wanted to start from scratch as regards the factory banks, so I successfully rolled back to v7, so Axe-Edit was functioning o.k. then just loaded the three banks in again. [This was before the new banks came out]. From there, I could then upgrade to v9.01, but I ended up just staying in v7, so I could have a play with Axe-Edit, upgrade later. Thought I was being clever!
Now there's new banks for v9.01 and we're told how to get them across without Axe-Edit.
The support of Fractal Audio is absolutely excellent!!
    Thanks.

I have backup cabs and reloaded with MIDI-OX.
Strange enough, this can only be done with one cabs at a time, not as a bank file.
You will have to have a preset with cab set to USER1, load a file then change from USER1 -> USER 2 and load a file again.

Maybe stupid questions... but I`ve had the Axe just a few days so ...
If I load the new banks A, B, C (10/12 release) will it erease all my existing presets? Id like to Keep about 30 of them ..
I innstalled FW 9.01 and i read that it`s not recomended to use Axe-edit until a new release/update of the program

Yes, If you load new bank, bank in unit will be overwritten
You can backup bank A in utility -> MIDI menu of axe-fx and restore it again after testing new 9.0 bankA

I'm feeling unsure if I got that right, so asking.
Will the cab be stored to the user slot wich is in my current preset? Cab block 1 not 2 I guess?
When I want to upload a cab to a certain slot I select its number in the cab block of the patch?
Do I need to store that patch everytime I change the number? Or is edting enough?

cab will be stored in slot 1..50 depending on which USER cab is currently selected in preset.
you do not need to store preset and cab will be generally available for all other preset after loading file.
