Trying to connect axe fx to axe edit for first time

Hi there tone junkies.

I have purchased a Axe fx ultra, and I am very happy with it amazing unit, unfortunatly i am not as clever as the unit itself, so im in need of some expert advice. I will try to be as thourough as possible and give as much unit info as i can, Here goes from begining.

-I purchased a cheap chinese or hongkong special, interface of ebay, it has the required usb & midi in and out plugs.

-I downloaded axe edit.

Software-1.0.317
Firmware- (offline)
Config-default:10.1.1


So i plugged the usb in and the midi plugs in to the correct outlets in/out and vice versa and the three interface LEDs are lit/blinking. I went to axe edit>settings>MIDI settings, and tried to connect doing everything via the manual. however I cannot get it to sync. basically this is as far as i have got.

I am not by any means a computer wizz but i do know my way around a little. so if i could get some advice from someone who may have expirienced this problem or knows how to resolve it that would be great. Just to add I did scour the other threads before bothering anyone with my problem but found it a little difficult to follow in most cases, so preferbly in laymons terms would be better.

Firstly Merry Christmas, enjoying this crazy heat in Melbourne? Just wondering how you went with these dam Midi/usb crap,? its doing my head in.I hope you have fixed it and if so please let me know .Thanks

For the Ultra get AE 0.9.191 and use it... There are no feature/function enhancements in the 1.* version for the Std/Ultra.
You'll save yourself a ton of pain.. '
